Kremlin Raises Concerns Over Military Buildup in NATO State- Analysis
Poland plans to send military advisors to Finland’s border with Russia, according to a statement by the head of the Polish National Security Bureau. The move comes in response to a request for allied support by Helsinki, which cited a “hybrid attack on the Finnish border.” However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed the need for Finland to enhance its military posture on the Russian border, stating that there is no real threat or tension. Peskov warned that such a military buildup could lead to an escalation of tensions between the two neighboring countries. The deployment of troops by Poland to its border with Belarus in 2021, as well as Finland’s plans to fully close its border with Russia, were mentioned in relation to the situation. The closure of the last land crossing between the two countries is scheduled for Thursday and is expected to last until at least December 13. It was described as a response to a surge in migrant arrivals, which Finnish authorities believe is a form of retaliation by Russia for the country’s accession to NATO. Russia, however, has dismissed these allegations as baseless.
