Palestinians released from prison reunite with loved ones: Analysis
Israel has released 39 Palestinian prisoners as part of a Qatar-mediated deal that led to the release of 13 Israeli hostages by Hamas. Qadura Fares, the head of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club NGO, stated that 33 prisoners were freed in the West Bank and handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross, while the remaining six were released in Jerusalem. These releases were made in the context of a four-day truce agreed upon between Israel and Hamas, which began on Friday. As part of the truce, it has been agreed that a total of 150 Palestinian prisoners and 50 Israeli hostages will be released within the next four days. One of the released prisoners, Marah Bakeer, who was arrested at the age of 16 in 2015, spoke to Al Jazeera and highlighted the medical attention that many of the released prisoners require. She expressed her excitement about spending time with her family and mentioned her plans of considering enrollment in a university to pursue a law degree.
