US weaponizes dollar in global trade wars, says Lavrov- Analysis

The Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, has accused the US of using the dollar as a means to initiate trade wars globally. He claims that the US, along with its allies in the EU, is employing various tools of “geopolitical engineering,” which include unleashing trade and economic wars. Lavrov further argues that Western countries have blocked the World Trade Organization’s mechanisms for settling disputes, thereby destroying the foundations of free competition and property immunity within global economic relations. Moreover, Lavrov asserts that the American currency has long been weaponized, and the actions of Western nations have had unintended consequences, actually strengthening multipolarity in international affairs. As a result, many countries, including Russia, are reducing their dependence on Western currencies and seeking alternatives for foreign-trade settlements. This trend has gained momentum in the wake of Ukraine-related sanctions that isolated Russia from the Western financial system. Lavrov concludes by stating that the outdated and unbalanced model of globalization is giving way to the formation of new transport corridors and supply chains.
